Think about an Acts 2 setting. People meeting in their homes and with one another for relationships and love rather than obligation.

What if we took the money that we send to the "church" every two weeks or a month and decided to help people? What would happen? I believe we would really see change, real change. People would start to feel that we care instead of just hearing it. Real lives would be affected.

I hope this happens. People will stop paying for big buildings and meetings and focus their efforts on helping people. Meeting people where they are in their lives and helping them with their needs. Let God work out the situations with their Spirits--He's pretty good at it.

The Heavenly Man

I am nearly finished with this book. It is the story of Brother Yun and the growth of house churches in China. His dedication is truly inspiring. Even if a person reading this is not a Christian, one would have to admire the faith and strength of this man. He would undoubtedly tell you it was not him, but the Lord and I would agree.

If you do read this blog, I urge you to pick up the book and read it. And then pray that each and everyone of us has just an ounce of his faith.

Unanswered Prayers

There are times in our lives that we reflect back on moments in which we prayed for a particular outcome. For hours to days to weeks, we sometimes wonder what God was thinking. Doesn't he know how important this issue is to me? How could this happen?

We are such shortsighted individuals most of the time. It is only months, years and decades later that we understand the God reasoning behind many decisions and actions. We start to have small flickers of His plan and not ours. And suddenly it starts to make sense.

It is only when we can surrender all control over that we are truely free from self imposed expectations and desires. We start to understand that all we can do is pray for His will be done, we can't actually manipulate anything. We can't will something to happen--only He can.

Don't believe me? Go sit in a room for the next four days and will the rain to fall for four days straight. Let me know how it works for you . . . . .
